Drawing on the expertise of two world-class academic medical colleges, Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College, the faculty and staff of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's Department of Psychiatry have created a center of excellence focusing attention on patient care, academic teaching and scientific research. In addition, the New York Psychiatric Institute, a hospital affiliate, is a national leader in psychiatric research, developing cutting-edge diagnostic procedures and treatment options for a variety of disorders.
As a resource for the most complex and challenging cases, the Department has a long, distinguished history serving patients at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center at 168th Street in Upper Manhattan, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center at East 68th Street in Manhattan, and the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's Westchester Division in White Plains, New York. The linkage among the programs at these outstanding institutions provides unprecedented opportunities for collaboration to enhance patient care and further understanding of psychiatric illness. With proper diagnosis and treatment, each patient's condition can be effectively addressed.
